Italian sculptor noted for his works of enameled terra cotta, for which he perfected a special glazing made of tin, antimony, and other substances. His nephew Andrea (1435-1525) and Andrea's son Giovanni (1469-1529) successively took over his workshop, one of the most important of the Florentine Renaissance.
