WPAN
(Wireless Personal Area Network) Wireless transmission over a short distance. For example, Bluetooth is widely used to provide wireless connectivity from a cellphone to a headset or vehicle audio system. In the home, WPANs are expected to provide cable-free connections for alarms, appliances and entertainment systems. There are numerous technologies that fall under the WPAN umbrella from the IEEE (see 802.15). See UWB, Bluetooth, wireless LAN and personal area network.
