(WI-Fi over Long Distance NETwork) Transmitting Wi-Fi signals over the air using microwave transceivers. Designed to bring Internet access to developing nations, Wildnet was created by professor Eric Brewer at University of California Berkeley. It uses Linux-based routers that can run from solar power and transmit 5 Mbps up to 60 miles. See Wi-Fi.
