user agent spoofing

user agent spoofing definition - computer

A Web browser that identifies itself as a more popular browser. When a user requests a Web page, some Web sites check the type of browser being used in order to deliver a page specialized to render correctly. If a lesser known browser is designed to render pages like a more popular browser, it may spoof the user agent string and identify itself as the popular browser. See user agent string.
