tombstoning
Refers to a discrete component (resistor, capacitor, etc.) that has turned straight up instead of laying flat as it goes through the soldering process. It can be caused by uneven amounts of soldering paste at different ends of the component or by shadows on the board causing different temperatures at the ends.
