thin server
(1) A network-based computer specialized for some function such as a print server, ISDN router or network attached storage (NAS). Designed for ease of installation, it has little expandability and no keyboard or monitor. Web server software is typically built in allowing management and control via a Web browser residing on any client platform in the network. See ETI and Web server.
(2) A rack-mounted server. 1U and 2U servers can be stacked on top of each other and take up considerably less space than tower cases. See rack mounted.
