SQLite
A public domain, compact SQL-based database management system (DBMS) developed by Richard Hipp that was designed for embedded applications such as smartphones and PDAs. Pronounced "S-Q-L-ite," it is also linked directly into software applications. For example, SQLite provides database storage for internal components and extensions in the Firefox Web browser and is also part of the Google Gears platform.
