soft key
(1) A simulated button or keyboard key that is displayed on a touch screen. The soft key is tapped with the finger or stylus for activation. See touch screen and virtual keyboard.
(2) A physical button that serves multiple functions on cellphones and other devices with small screens. The button is located next to the screen, which displays the purpose of the key at that moment. See virtual keyboard.
