Snap Server
A popular network-attached storage (NAS) device from Snap Appliance, a division of Adaptec Inc., Milpitas, CA (www.snapappliance.com). It plugs into an Ethernet switch for extra storage on the network. Powered by a unified software platform called GuardianOS, the same Snap Server can be accessed by Windows, Macintosh, Unix and NetWare clients. By the end of 2003, over 150,000 units had been sold worldwide. Snap Appliance, formerly a spin-off of Quantum Corporation, was purchased by Adaptec in 2004. See NAS.
