scaler definition - computer

(1) An electronic circuit that resizes an input signal to fit on a screen with a higher or lower resolution. It may also refer to software that resizes graphics or video. See upconvert.

(2) Refers to products that can be upgraded to much larger capacities or that will automatically expand to accommodate much greater volume. See scale and scalable.
