QIC-Wide definition - computer

(Quarter Inch Cartridge-Wide) An enhanced version of QIC tape from Sony that provides more storage capacity. It increases recording density and uses wider .315" tape in a standard QIC Minicartridge with a redesigned housing. QIC-Wide drives support both QIC-Wide and QIC (DC2000) formats. Travan drives also support QIC-Wide tapes. See QIC, QIC-EX and Travan.
