protocol-based DRAM definition - computer

A memory chip architecture that transfers addresses, control signals and the data over the same multiplexed bus rather than using separate lines (pins) for each category. Rambus DRAM (RDRAM) and SLDRAM are protocol-based DRAM technologies. See RDRAM and SLDRAM.
