PoE adapter
(Power Over Ethernet adapter) A two-part device that adds power to an Ethernet cable for equipment that is not PoE enabled. The base unit of the adapter accepts 48 volts DC power from a transformer and regular Ethernet and outputs powered Ethernet. The terminal unit, which is located at the target device, accepts the powered cable and splits it into 5 volts DC output and regular Ethernet for the target device. See PoE.
