Fancy Plumbing

After 45 years in the business, in 2004, Alan Freedman, creator of this encyclopedia, finally became a modder, albeit a mild one. He created an ultra-quiet PC with a Zalman (www.zalmanusa.com) water cooling system that takes the heat from the chips, allowing a much quieter case fan to be used. Water is pumped in a closed loop from the external radiator (blue) to the CPU and then to the GPU on the display adapter. The tube runs around the front of the case to a flow indicator.
