mixed reality

mixed reality definition - computer

A type of virtual reality that combines real and imagined images. In "augmented reality," most of the images are real. For example, using transparent headsets, you could see how that new sofa would look in your own living room, or view the 3D schematic of a jet engine while you work on the engine itself.

With "augmented virtuality," most of the imagery is computer-generated. For example, you might see something real, perhaps even yourself, projected into an imaginary environment. See virtual reality.
