media drive

media drive definition - computer

(1) See personal media drive.

(2) A hardware media player that connects portable hard drives to a TV set. The play, pause and other controls are on the media drive's remote control and sometimes on the device. This type of media player is essentially an adapter, because it provides the conduit between an external hard drive containing video files and the TV. Files connect to the media drive via USB, and the media drive connects to the TV via HDMI, composite or component video inputs. See media player.
