Macromedia Spectra definition - computer

An open source Web site development system from Macromedia that provides a complete package for e-commerce, content management and personalization (delivering custom pages based on users' interests). It works with Macromedia ColdFusion and is installed on a ColdFusion server. Spectra runs under Windows NT/2000 and Solaris and supports the major databases. It features the ContentObject API (COAPI) object model for designing Web pages and the WebTop, a high-level user interface for team development.

Macromedia Spectra was originally Allaire Spectra, developed by Allaire Corporation, which merged with Macromedia in 2001. Two years later, Macromedia Spectra was made an open source product.
