Mac emulator definition - computer

Software that allows Macintosh applications to run in a foreign environment, typically Windows. Generally capable of running only applications from earlier Macintosh operating systems, examples are SoftMac2000, formerly FUSION PC, (www.softhut.com), vMac (www.vmac.org) and Executor (www.ardi.com). A copy of the contents of the Mac's ROM chip may be required to run the emulator.
