line sharer definition - computer

A device that allows sharing a line. For example, telephone line sharers are used to connect a variety of office terminals (phone, fax, modem, etc.) to one or more phone lines. Internet line sharers connect several PCs to one modem. Host line sharers connect multiple terminals to one or more serial lines connected to a host computer.
