international callback

international callback definition - computer

The practice of circumventing the high cost of international toll calls by mixing conferencing with special signaling to allow an overseas call to be placed via a U.S. dialtone at much lower rates. More common in the 1990s, but less so now, it let someone overseas dial as if that call were originating in the U.S.
