In DOS and OS/2, a command, such as Copy, Dir and Rename, which may be used at all times. Internal commands are executed by the command processor programs COMMAND.COM in DOS and CMD.EXE in OS/2. The command processor is always loaded when the operating system is loaded. Contrast with external command.
