IMS Forum definition - computer

(IP Multimedia Subsystem Forum, Fremont, CA, www.imsforum.org) An industry association dedicated to the acceleration of IP convergence and interoperability of IP services. The organization also provides best practices consulting on interconnectivity for fixed, mobile and cable service providers. See IP Multimedia Subsystem.

Born as the International Softswitch Consortium (ISC) in 1999 and re-dubbed the International Packet Communications Consortium (IPCC) in 2003, the IMS Forum's creation was supported in 2006 by more than a dozen telecom players, including Cisco and Alcatel.
