IF stage

IF stage definition - computer

(Intermediate Frequency stage) A common frequency that radio signals (radio, TV, cellphone, etc.) are converted to before the demodulation stage. It is easier to build a demodulator that works on only one frequency than all the carrier frequencies of the signals that travel in the air. For an FM radio example, see PLL. See RF stage.
