IAC

IAC definition - computer

(1) (InterApplication Communications) The interprocess communications capability in the Macintosh starting with System 7.0. Many IAC events take place behind the scenes. For example, when you drag and drop an object onto an icon, the Finder may send an IAC message to the application, or an application may send a message to another application, to perform a function.

(2) (Internet Access Coalition) A consortium of vendors including Microsoft, Intel and IBM, whose mission is to keep the Internet affordable and promote high-speed access. They oppose any regulations that would enable a telephone company to charge a customer more for a data call than a voice call.
