(1) A term coined by Marshall McLuhan who envisioned the world interconnected via electronic communications.

(2) (Global Village Communications, Inc.) A manufacturer of communications products for the Macintosh and Windows PCs founded in 1989. In 2000, it was acquired by Zoom Telephonics Inc.
