GIOP definition - computer

(General Inter-Orb Protocol) The protocol used by CORBA to communicate between ORBs. GIOP defines the messages and format that are passed over the ORB between the client and the object. GIOP is a high-level protocol that rides on top of a transport protocol such as TCP/IP. The combination of GIOP running on TCP/IP is IIOP. See IIOP and CORBA.
