An open source Linux operating system that grew out of the commercial Linspire OS. Freespire was based on Debian Linux and then Ubuntu, following the Linspire lineage; however, Linspire was acquired by Xandros Inc. (www.xandros.com) in 2008 and moved back into the Debian camp.
