FOMA definition - computer

(Freedom Of Mobile Multimedia Access) A family of 3G cellphone services from NTT DoCoMo in Japan. Introduced in 2001, FOMA was based on WCDMA but was incompatible with UMTS handsets until 2004. FOMA High Speed uses the HSDPA technology, which is significantly faster than WCDMA. See i-mode, HSPA and cellular generations.
