flexible circuit
A pattern of conductors created on a bendable film, which acts as an insulating (dielectric) base material. The top is coated with a dielectric cover layer. A flexible circuit is a pliable counterpart to a rigid printed circuit board. Flexible circuits, or "flex circuits," are often required to enable a more rapid construction of a device rather than their ability to turn and twist in normal operation. See bendy chip.
