(Enhanced STN) A passive image display technology from Varitronix, City of Industry, CA (www.vle.com) that adds a dark dye to the STN cell. Used for negative image displays, it decreases the background bleed-through of short-wavelength light, but is not suited to very low temperatures. See ISTN and LCD types.
