EDWA
(Erbium-Doped Waveguide Amplifier) A device that boosts the signal in an optical fiber. It is similar to an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA), except that it provides a higher gain in a small waveguide rather than several meters of fiber. See EDFA.
