DVCPRO

DVCPRO definition - computer

Panasonic's variant of the DV (Digital Video) format, which provides higher quality by increasing tape speed and track width. It uses metal particle tape for added reliability and also adds a cueing track for enhanced editing. DVCPRO50 uses two codecs to double the transfer rate of standard DV. DVCPRO and DVCPRO50 cassettes can be played only in DVCPRO tape decks. Using an adapter, MiniDV cassettes can also be played in DVCPRO decks.

DVCPRO HD is the high-definition version of DVCPRO, offering 1280x1080 resolution versus 720x480 for DVCPRO. See DV.
