drive door definition - computer

(1) A front panel on a CD/DVD drive that opens and closes to reveal the tray that holds the medium.

(2) A lever that locks a disk into the drive. With earlier 5.25" floppy drives, the lever had to be flipped up before inserting the disk and flipped down for operation.
