Dolby HDR

Dolby HDR definition - computer

(Dolby High-Dynamic Range) A backlight technology for LCD screens from Dolby. Introduced in 2008, Dolby HDR brightens and dims regions of LED backlights on an LCD screen based on the image in those areas at that moment. Providing a huge contrast ratio of 200,000:1, the black pixels can be made blacker because the LEDs can be turned entirely off in dark areas of the video frame. See LCD, LED and HDR.
