distribution disk

distribution disk definition - computer

A CD-ROM or DVD that contains an installation program and the files that make up a software application. Prior to the CD, the floppy disk was the primary way software packages were disseminated to the user, and many programs used quite a few of them. Increasingly, more programs are distributed only on the Internet. See install program and Linux distribution.
