DFP

DFP definition - computer

(Digital Flat Panel) A digital interface for a flat panel display from VESA (www.vesa.org). Based on the electrical interface of the earlier P&D (Plug & Display) standard, DFP uses TMDS transmission and a 20-pin mini-D ribbon (MDR) connector. Compaq was its primary supporter and put DFP ports on many of its computers; however, DVI (Digital Visual Interface) became more popular. DFP was introduced with a limit of 1024x768 pixels. See flat panel display, TMDS, Vesa Plug & Display and DVI.
