DDN NIC definition - computer

(Defense Data Network Network Information Center) The organization that originally handled the assignment of Internet network addresses and autonomous system numbers, the administration of the root domain and Internet information and support services. Since the creation of the InterNIC, it performs these functions only for the DDN. See Network Solutions.
