(1) Typically refers to a programmer with limited experience who writes simple programs. The term tends to imply a junior level; however, it may also refer to experienced programmers who are part of a very large development group that parcels out tiny pieces of the pie to many individuals. (2) A person who assigns special codes to data. See encode.
