blacksurfing

blacksurfing definition - computer

Using white or light gray text on a black background in order to lessen the amount of energy used by a monitor. On a CRT monitor, it takes considerably more power to display white pixels than black ones, because the red, green and blue pixels must be energized to produce white. However, on LCD monitors, the difference is marginal, because only the liquid crystal molecules must be energized.
