ATI definition - computer

(ATI Technologies Inc., Markham Ontario, http://ati.amd.com) A leading manufacturer of graphics chips and display adapters. Founded in 1985 by K. Y. Ho, Benny Lau and Lee Lau, ATI chips and boards are widely used by OEMs. In late 1997, ATI acquired the graphics design assets of Tseng Labs, Newtown, PA. Tseng employees and the Newtown facility became the ATI Research division. ATI brands such as RADEON, FireGL, RAGE, XPERT and Mach are known throughout the world. In 2006, chip maker AMD acquired ATI and turned it into the graphics chip division of the company.
