analog input definition - computer

Refers to hardware interfaces that accept non-digital signals. For decades, all the plugs and sockets on traditional audio and video equipment connected analog lines (see illustration below). In addition, the common high-density DB-15 socket on a PC, which is used to plug in a VGA monitor, is analog (see VGA). Contrast with digital input.
