AMI definition - computer

(Alternate Mark Inversion) An encoding method in T1 and E1 transmission in which consecutive 1s have the opposite polarity in order to maintain ones density. All 0s are sent as 01, while 1s are sent as alternating 11 and 00. See ones density. See also AMI BIOS.
