AFIPS definition - computer

(American Federation of Information Processing Societies Inc.) An organization founded in 1961 dedicated to advancing information processing in the U.S. It was the U.S. representative of IFIP and umbrella for 11 membership societies. In 1990, it was dissolved and superseded by FOCUS.
