address mode
The method by which an instruction references memory. In indexed addressing, an instruction address is modified by the contents of an index register before execution. In indirect addressing, the instruction points to another address. Ultimately, in order to do any actual processing, the instruction must derive an absolute address, which is the real, physical address where the required data are located.
