The thought you expressed here I read earlier.  I was waiting at a very long red light, about 1/2 hour ago when the idiom came to mind and I had to smile
at how this site can influence one’s thoughts.  I was literally ‘champing at the bit’ and then smiled and relaxed a “bit”. Good one Mark.

Mike Tyson didn’t champ at the bit. He bit at the champ.

I thought he was the champ, but then I don’t follow sports.

Maybe he bit the contender. Shows you how much I know.

Maybe you should have snopes check it out, they seem to be experts on everything.
