champ at the bit

  1. to bite upon its bit repeatedly and restlessly: said of a horse
  2. to show impatience at restraint; be restless

The thought you expressed here I read earlier.  I was waiting at a very long red light, about 1/2 hour ago when the idiom came to mind and I had to smile
at how this site can influence one’s thoughts.  I was literally ‘champing at the bit’ and then smiled and relaxed a “bit”. Good one Mark.

Mike Tyson didn’t champ at the bit. He bit at the champ.

I thought he was the champ, but then I don’t follow sports.

Maybe he bit the contender. Shows you how much I know.

It’s not worth explaining.

hmmm so it means restlessness but I feel burst with energy today.  It’s a nice idiom to remember. Thanks Mark

Luck? I don’t know anything about luck. I’ve never banked on it, and I’m afraid of people who do. Luck to me is something else: Hard work—and realizing what is opportunity and what isn’t.

Et (ate) one [ear], Brute (pronounced as one syllable, Mike Tyson is one).

(I told you it wasn’t worth explaining.)

Because I was champing at the bit to introduce some refined humor into the discussion. Unfortunately, I couldn’t think of any.

Keep your humor for the “humor” thread, maybe we’ll laugh.
