Greek word, Kai?

Today in my word of the day letter through Dictionary.com, I got the definition for triskaidekaphobia. On the bottom of the page, they showed the etymology of the word and how it’s used. Treis is three and deka is ten, but kai wasn’t presented.

various dictionary sites give the kai as ‘and’. so three and ten i.e. thirteen.
