I propose, just for some discussion:
What word or phrase do you all find the most annoying???

For me the word DUDE

Followed in second place by the non-word/phrase   LOL (It needs its own glossary for people to use, as I’ve found at least 18 different meanings. Maybe people
LOL1, LOL14, etc. depending on what they are attempting to say.)

Next, the lazy way of saying thanks, THX, (If you cannot take the time to type the whole word, don’t say it all, it is like you don’t mean it.)

Bit colloquial to Midlands of England but ‘duck’ is used as a friendly term. As in “Are you alright, duck”. Can’t stand it!

also annoying a mispronunciations of words like “on tenderhooks” for “on tenterhooks”, many of them are here

Yes, I’ve gone to that site: enjoy looking at the stuff on it, actually. “Are you alright, duck?”  - That is a bit funny sounding, I’ll admit, never heard it until now.

It’s a common expression on Dick Cheney hunting expeditions.  The duck is usually alright, anyone else who didn’t is liable to be shot.

I’ll be considering AGAIN.
After I discuss something after the word INTRODUCTION means,
she’ll just simply said, “Again?”. ggrr..!!

Another, “Ya know what I’m saying”, any more it comes out as “Nymsayin”.
And the inevitable texting garbage: BTW.  I have a really dirty one for that, and when I get it in an email, I usually send it back to the sender.

I must admit I use the the texting abbreviations sometimes when texting.
I think the problem comes when they are used elsewhere purely out of laziness

there has been survey suggesting that it doesn’t affecting children’s spelling ability. Doesn’t stop it being annoying though!

Emo”.

I find that Orwell was correct in 1984. Now people are condensing words, but this one riles my spine. If one’s “emotional”, I think that’s better than being offensive. Not to be annoying, but I was called “emo goblin’ in high school, why?
