a rich pocket of something, as in a motherload of ore.
Sort of interested as to why this word is not in the forum. Some of the GOGs must be sleeping in this Saturday AM, so I am putting it here.( It is a good day to sleep,
however, we had about 3 inches of stupid snow: even the birds are having a hard time foraging. My feeders are packed like a shopping mall on the day after
thanksgiving).
Maybe they’ve gone to Ponder-osa (that’s the worst pun I could think of!)
either that or a ‘Eureka’ moment and they’ve discover gold!
bonanza
n
1 a source, usually sudden and unexpected, of luck or wealth
2 (U.S. and Canadian) a mine or vein rich in ore
(C19: from Spanish, literally: calm sea, hence, good luck, from Medieval Latin bonacia, from Latin bonus good + malacia dead calm, from Greek malakia softness)

Interestingly Wikipedia’s ‘Bonanza’ (TV series) says it originally referred to the Comstock Lode in Nevada. Interesting as it’s featured in a course (Earth’s Resources) that i’m doing.
I’ll need plenty of bonanza on Monday as it the examination!
