Post all your advertisements here.

I promise I will read them all, as long as you send no advertisements to any other thread from this point on.

That’s odd. When I click it, it gets fairly large.

It says, “Lost Dog - 3 legged - blind in one eye - missing left ear - broken tail - recently castrated - answers to “Lucky.”

The thumbnail thing does not work at this end, never does, never has.  It opens up a widow on the Your Dictionary site welcoming newcomers,  Vikki among them.

Unless “thumbnail” is something (and doug tried once to tell me it was, but I did not understand)
that I don’t know where to find and thus click.

I just click in the middle of the image, and a little window pops up with the same image. Most of the time, the image is larger than the original, although sometimes not. That depends on the size of the attachment.

But there should be no welcome. It should just be a larger version of the photo.

Ask Vikki what could be happening.

I wanted to mention that ( as I hope y’all have noticed ) we do try to police (i.e. ban people and IPs, and delete posts) spammers from our forum,
but there are sometimes higher priorities (fixing issues, increasing reliability, adding features, etc) , so:

I would like to suggest, or maybe confirm, a pattern which has already been taking place.

Please , if you notice a spammy post, advertising other services,  that you continue to use the keyword advertisement.

Kudos to Lukejavan8, for being one very effective spamcop to date!  If I had YD gold stars to hand out, he would deserve many.

If we can maintain a keyword pattern like this, then we can automate the search (of the search and destroy part) of spam handling.

Also, we do have the other anti-spam things, blacklists, and manual email confirmed signup, etc, that keeps out most of the nasty spambots, but
of course, it is an eternal dualistic struggle: spammers against the site admins, good versus evil, mind versus matter, light vs dark,  coke vs pepsi, etc.

Thank you .

A point of clarification:

If you see spam or other blatantly objectionable content, please reply to it, and use the word:

advertisement

In your post.  It doesn’t have to be only that word, but include the word “advertisement” (no quotes).

This allows US to do a keyword search on that word and find it quickly, automate these searches and also
follow what seems to be an agora community standard.

Thanks!

Nope, as you can see from above, they have other things to do.
So I’ll wait.  I’ll try to send you the page that appears when I click.  But no guarantee it will arrive.  I am not much good with computers, as you know.

Luke,

Experimenting on my PC, I get your problem if I use Internet Explorer web browser (guess you are using this), but not when I use FireFox my usual one.

If you right click on the image, are the top 3 entries available or just the first (all begin ‘Open’)

probably a setting somewhere, I’ll have a look when have a bit of time otherwise I know a man that might know!

Only the top one is available, the others are very faint. The one that opens says: Open Link.

The only one that is dark in print, is working: it says Open Link, and when I click it I get the same little window with the same response.
The other to ‘opens’ are printed very faint and don’t open anythng.

Same for me. I use Firefox and the images work. If I use Internet Explorer, I get the weird page. I’m sure there’s a solution, but I don’t know what it is.

Doug tried to explain it, and told me to find it using the start button on lower left, but I did not understand what he was saying, and asked, but it is lost in the threads somewhere.
