How are Germanic Languages different from Romance Languages?

I find German similar to French or Spanish in some aspects like the gender classification of nouns but at the same time, English and German share good vocabulary, both being Germanic languages.

I have a couple of questions here, that I thought, would make a knowledgeable discussion:

I would like to know more, from well-informed people here, about the relationship that the Romance Languages & the Germanic Languages share. Can they be grouped under the European Languages as one?

If Greek, Latin, Sanskrit, Hebrew are some of those very highly acclaimed ancient languages that existed centuries ago, can we find the connecting line that binds them?
(The group of Indo-European Languages come into picture now)

Each language has its own unique intricacies that can(not) be comparable at times, but its just that I’m trying to find if I can connect things I know.

I speak one Germanic Language, one Romance Language, three Indian Languages (one Aryan and two Dravidian) and I’m learning one each of the Germanic & Romance Languages. And this little exposure I had from the various language roots made me start thinking about how our ancient mother languages are inter-connected.

Thank you so much for reading my post!

I think, Sohel, you’d find a terrific answer by going to a source wherein the Proto-Indo-European (PIE) languages are explained.
Romance languages derive chiefly from Latin: Spanish, French, Portuguese, Catalan, Romansch, Romanian, Italian, Provencal, and maybe some others. Germanic languages from other sources.

See next post.
